Canada, California, and Other Adventures

Where do I begin? This quarter has been so busy that I honestly don't know what I should talk about, what order I should write this entry in, etc. Only 4 more weeks of classes and then I am done for the year! I just realized the other day that next week I am registering for fall courses. While I have my schedule mostly planned out, I'm still in disbelief at how fast my second year of college is approaching.

Continuing from last month's entry, I still have yet to find out if I will be offered a position in the Rochester IT summer internship program that I mentioned. I had my interview over three weeks ago, but I have not heard back from them. I'm getting quite anxious.

RIT Hockey is officially over, and has been finished for a couple weeks now. We lost in the semifinals to Mercyhurst. Air Force went on to win our division and ended up doing fairly well in the NCAA playoffs.

If you couldn't already tell, my spring quarter has kept me pretty busy. My classes are about the same in difficulty, although there seems to be about twice the amount of work as usual. I basically have no life throughout the week besides class, homework, and running, so I live for the weekends.

The first part of this quarter was filled with hockey, of course, and I also completed my first indoor triathlon. I love swimming but have always had difficulty swimming for long periods of time. I am not very fast, so I was pleased that I placed 78 out of 115. I've also done two other races this quarter, a 15k (54 out of 378!!!) and the most ridiculous trail race I've ever done in my life (26 out of 198).

This month in particular has been amazing. Last weekend, I went home for three days for Easter. We didn't get off classes, but I don't have any Friday classes this quarter so I was able to go home Thursday night. I went to the movies and bowling with friends, as well as canoeing over 13 miles on the Susquehanna River. Easter dinner was fantastic--I miss home-cooked meals!

Friday and Saturday of this weekend were spent in Niagara Falls, Canada. My parents and I went to Niagara Falls, NY almost six years ago but have never went over to the Canadian side. I went with one of my friends and we stayed at a hotel right near the falls. We did quite a bit of exploring and also visited the casino's--my friend somehow managed to turn 25 cents into $50 with one bet on the slot machines. I was also amused that the border patrol found it necessary to search my entire trunk and even took out the spare tire when I crossed back into the U.S.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to these last couple weeks, enjoying the warm weather, and just anxious for summer in general. Some of us are going on a trip with the high school FBLA students to Anaheim, California at the end of June. If you remember one of my older entries, I competed in the national FBLA competition last year in Atlanta, Georgia. This summer, they are competing directly across the street from Disneyland. The price of the trip package may have broke me, but it's going to be worth it!

And wait--there's more. Next weekend I am going home for the Penn State Blue & White weekend. There is the spring football game and also a baseball game that we will be going to see. Knoebel's Amusement Park opens this weekend, so Sunday will be spent there.

When will I ever get my work done???
