Winter Blues
It's March!!! Hopefully spring will be upon us soon--I'm getting sick of Rochester winter. At the moment, I'm on "spring break" back home in Pennsylvania.
The rest of January was pretty eventful. I ran a 10k race in the freezing cold with the RIT Running Club, and I also made my first official journey into the city of Rochester. The RIT Hockey team played against the USA 18-Under team at the Blue Cross Arena, and it was quite an experience.
February went by quickly. With working, class, and hockey, there wasn't much free time in my schedule. RHA planned a Valentine's Dance then went rather well. I also went through the RA process for the 2009-2010 school year, but found out this past week that I won't be offered a position. (While I'm a bit bummed out, at least I will still be able to have a life next year!)
I've been home for the past week and a half, except for going back up to RIT for two finals. I'm excited to be starting new classes next week, I really think it's going to be a good quarter. I haven't done much while on break except for running with the high school track team. I've learned that coming home isn't always fun--I'm getting spoiled by living in a big metro area where there's always something to do.
Tomorrow should be interesting. I'm getting recognized for a business plan I wrote last year in my entrepreneurship class I had, so I get a free dinner at Tedd's on the Hill. I think I get to meet a few rather important people, so we'll see how that goes. I also plan on hiking this weekend, and then it's back to the Roc!
I'm a bit uncertain about what the summer will bring. This could be my last free summer because the next two summers I will probably be on co-ops. However, I have been thinking about applying for a nine week rotational internship in Rochester. If offered one of the dozen or so spots, I would be given the opportunity to work at three different companies for three weeks each. The downside to this is that I would have to find an apartment to rent in Rochester, and I'm not positive that it will economically feasible yet. However, I think I'm still going to apply and make my decision later. I'll still have a summer, it won't be totally wasted--I would be home for two weeks, work for three, go back home for a week for the 4th of July, then work six more weeks until the middle of August.
Who knows what will happen...
In other news, RIT tied with Air Force in the Atlantic Hockey Association. Playoffs are starting soon, and I'm excited!
