Updates and RIT Hockey!
Another 4 weeks has passed... time for another update!
I have finals for winter quarter in a month. It's unbelievable how fast this quarter is going, and I am NOT ready to register for classes next week. I have no idea what to take--I'm going to talk to my academic adviser either tomorrow or Wednesday.
The last week of my Winter break was mostly uneventful. I celebrated the new year by going to First Night in State College with some friends. My final Saturday at home, a couple of us went to the movies and saw "Valkyrie". I highly recommend it.
I'm actually at home writing this entry. I drove home Friday night and will be leaving for RIT later this afternoon. It's nice to come home once in awhile to reconnect with friends. Last night, I went to the high school boys' basketball game and then to Steve's to watch a movie.
Life at RIT has been going great. It's been busy with work, homework, and preparing for finals, but I still manage to have some free time. RHA went bowling a couple Sunday's ago, and I actually bowled fairly decent on my second game (somewhere around a 120, I believe).
I've also become slightly obsessed with RIT hockey.
For most big schools, football is the major sport that everybody looks forward to. RIT doesn't have a football team, but does have Division I Mens' Ice Hockey. And... the games are amazing!
I am fortunate enough to have a few friends who are part of the "Corner Crew", which is the student/alumni section of the hockey rink who love to make noise and heckle the other team. The other weekend I was a part of the "Corner Crew", and I believe that I probably will be for at least the next three years. I don't plan on missing any games anytime soon. The atmosphere is intense--it's one of the only times that I truly feel the school spirit on campus. I had a blast, especially tailgating in the 0 degree weather. Who cares if we have to get to the game 1 1/2 hours early!? It's totally worth it!
Oh, and not only that, but our team is GOOD, too!
Even though I'm a broke college student, I'm seriously considering buying some RIT hockey apparel... including a $60 replica jersey. But we'll see about that.
Time to get back to homework!
