New York City!
The last week of fall break and the first three weeks of winter quarter went rather quickly. I was fairly busy with school and work during this time, but I did manage to have quite a bit of fun as well. Some of the highlights of the last few weeks included a class of '08 lunch meetup, watching Wall-E & the Dark Knight up at RIT, watching two hockey games, and going to Miranda's party last weekend.
My winter break has been fun, to say the least. I came home two Thursdays ago, around 11pm at night. I had originally planned to come home Friday afternoon, but I ended up skipping my last class and traveling early to beat the storm. Rochester got over a foot of snow that Friday!
Christmas was excellent, although it sure did not feel like Christmas this year. I guess it caught up to me too fast--it was over and done with before I was able to fully enjoy the holiday. However, yesterday I went with Curt, Miranda, and Vanessa to New York City.
It was quite a blast. We started out by touring Times Square, the Rockefeller Center, and 5th Avenue. I went to New York City two years ago, but it rained the entire time and we hadn't done much walking around. Well, we definitely made up for it this time.
After walking around in upper Manhattan for awhile, the four of us took the subway to Wall Street. The three of them are business majors, so it made sense that they would want to go there. We also walked to Battery Park, but couldn't see the Statue of Liberty because of the dense fog. After walking around there, we walked to Ground Zero and saw the beginnings of Freedom Tower.
We ended the day by taking the subway back up to Times Square and walking to Central Park (after spending more time on 5th Avenue and getting free chocolate at Lindt's). We were too tired at this point to walk in Central Park, so what better way to see the park than by carriage???
Pizza was our dinner, as we did not have enough time to eat somewhere nice. The lines at Time Square were entirely too long (we had less than two hours before the bus left), but we ate at S'barro's. If there's one thing I have learned from this trip, the bathrooms in New York City are atrocious.
I guess that sums up the last few weeks. This week won't be too eventful, except for the XC breakfast on Friday. I also plan on doing some shopping while I have money. Until next time!
