Atlanta Trip - 06/24/08 to 06/30/08
I traveled to Atlanta with five other people from my school. It was the national competition for the Future Business Leaders of America. I WON MY EVENT!!! Woot. I had an amazing time--there was never a dull moment.
06/24/08 - Day One
- 2 hours of sleep. Left the house around 3:30a.m. to head back down to Harrisburg with Curtis. Tried coffee at Dunkin Donuts, didn't like it.
- Waited at the airport for way too long. Arrived in ATLANTA around 10a.m. or so.
- Stone Mountain Park. Was. Amazing. I took lots of pictures. Besides taking the sky-lift up the granite mountain, we also had a picnic and went miniature golfing.
- Our hotel rooms weren't ready, but we went to Turner Field to watch the Braves game. Left at the end of the 7th inning because everybody was falling asleep.
- The hotel was amazing--47 floors and everything was open... you could see down on all the other floors.
06/25/08 - Day Two
- Early wake up. 5:30a.m. Got about 5 hours of sleep this time.
- PA meeting at 7:30. Then we went on a walking tour to the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium.
- Both places were absolutely amazing. I took more pictures. Coca-Cola has some good products in other countries, but also some bad ones. Beverly is horrible!
- While waiting to go to Fogo de Chao for dinner, we went to Centennial Park and played in the water fountains to cool off a bit.
- Fogo de Chao has AMAZING food.
- I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure all we did after this was explore the hotel and the surrounding mall. And other fun stuff.
06/26/08 - Day Three
- Bus tour of the city at 9a.m. Also went to the historic site for Martin Luther King, Jr. Saw his grave in the fountain.
- Ate lunch at the Varsity. "What'll ya have?!"
- Opening session at the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Took Marta back because it takes awhile to put 7,500 kids on buses. Bad choice, still waited a long time.
06/27/08 - Day Four
- Got to sleep in sort of! I had my test in the afternoon and almost fell asleep taking it. I watched a few other competitions (Virtual Business). Also did some studying.
- Walked around Atlanta afterwards and probably almost got shot in the Underground. Don't ever go near the bar.
- Ate a late supper at Hooter's!
06/28/08 - Day Five
- After watching more of the Virtual Business competition in the morning, we decided to tour the CNN building and then go to Lenox Square. The CNN building was really cool. I didn't buy anything at the mall, but I did get good food and saw a free concert at the iPod store.
- Randomness that night. Actually, all nights were pretty random. We did fun things, like bowling with a bouncy ball and empty water bottles.
06/29/08 - Day Six
- Brunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.
- Brad, Seth, and I went to the fountains at Centennial Park again. Got absolutely soaked.
- Awards program at the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Ice cream social.
06/30/08 - Day Seven
- We left the hotel around noon. Our flight was at 2:52p.m.
- Arrival back at Harrisburg around 4:30p.m.
- Stopped at Pizza Hut for supper with Curtis.
- Back at my house around 8p.m.
